People think that no one can be invincible. They believe that everyone can be defeated in one way or another, no matter how powerful they are. Therefore they think it is impossible to be invincible. But the truth is, invincibility is possible if you believe it is. It’s true that everyone can be defeated, but there’re those who have made themselves virtually undefeatable by following the way of invincibility. There is a way to be invincible and when you discover and follow it, you won’t be defeated even though you can be.
You can make yourself invincible by playing only to your own strengths. It doesn’t matter how many different strategies and tools there are to use. You only need to make use of those that work best for you. It is foolishness of others when they think that you are not a master when you are not good at using many strategies and tools other than your own. Some of the most powerful masters in the world may only use one or two strategies or tools to defeat everyone else soundly. Invincibility is the simple way.
You can make yourself invincible by engaging only when it is advantageous to you. Who is to say that you must fight every battle that appears before you? Who is to say that you must take on every challenge? People who think like that are not the wisest and that is why they open themselves to defeat no matter how powerful they are. You create your reality and the kinds of challenges that come your way are created by you in the first place. Therefore you can choose to create and engage to your advantage.
You can make yourself invincible by preventing your weaknesses from being exploited.
- This is the key secret of invincibility. A strength is only a strength when it is what you can use to gain you victory. A weakness is only a weakness when it is something that can cause you defeat. Therefore you can take away an enemy’s strength by preventing him from gaining victory with it, and you can make a weakness of your own disappear by preventing it from causing you defeat. Prevention is the best protection.
One way to prevent your weakness from being exploited is by not being there for the enemy to attack. Stay out of situations and places that you know are unfavorable for you. It is insane for a hand to hand combat master to enter into a place filled with gunmen or snipers. A wise fighter will not show up no matter how much the enemy tries to taunt him. If you have to enter such conditions, choose hit and run tactics. Get in and make your move, and then get out before the enemy can make a proper response.
The most lethal opponent is one that is unseen. If you can attack from the shadows and disappear when you are looked for, you will be a force to be reckoned with. The best attack is the least expected. When you strike at moments or in places where your enemy is off guard, he may be unable to put up a proper fight against you. When you move yourself away from places at times when he comes looking for you, he will be unable to touch you. This is the secret of invincible offense and invincible defense.
Having weaknesses that are unexposed is virtually having no weakness at all. Your enemy can observe your weaknesses all he wants. But as long as you play according to your strengths and engaging only when it is advantageous to you, he can observe your weaknesses all the way to his complete defeat. It may even seem as though those weaknesses only exist with others but not with you. That’s because both strengths and weaknesses do not exist in strategies or tools, but in the people using them.
You can even advance your power of invincibility to the next level by using your weaknesses as a bait to draw the enemy in, and then to destroy him with a trap. In this case, what originally appears to be a weakness has been used as a strength.
- This kind of playing defies all standard rules and ordinary boundaries of winning and losing. All strengths and weaknesses are illusions. Nothing is really a strength or a weakness until its effect is manifested on the playing field. Everything is neutral until it is used.
Sun Tzu said the good fighters of old first put themselves beyond the possibility of defeat, and then waited for an opportunity of defeating the enemy. To secure ourselves against defeat lies in our own hands, but the opportunity of defeating the enemy is provided by the enemy himself. Thus the good fighter is able to secure himself against defeat, but cannot make certain of defeating the enemy. Be invincible yourself first, and then seek to break the enemy’s invincibility while not letting him break yours at all.
What the ancients called a clever fighter is one who not only wins, but excels in winning with ease. Hence his victories bring him neither reputation for wisdom nor credit for courage. He wins his battles by making no mistakes. Making no mistakes is what establishes the certainty of victory, for it means conquering an enemy that is already defeated. Hence the skillful fighter puts himself into a position which makes defeat impossible, and does not miss the moment for defeating the enemy whenever it arises.
Thus it is that in war the victorious strategist only seeks battle after the victory has been won, whereas he who is destined to defeat first fights and afterwards looks for victory. If you follow all the principles of being undefeatable, you can fight every battle with the outcome of victory secured. There is one final key of being undefeatable in the special case where you actually experience defeat, and that is to make the defeat work for you. In that case, you can never lose because every loss is turned into gain.
